Basement

Nomad Life Wiki
The pull-out drawers in this Suburban build comprise the "basement"

In the context of nomadic living, a basement is storage compartment under the floor or under a platform bed. Most often it is a very long drawer that can only be accessed when the vehicle's exterior side or rear doors are open. They are common in self-built truck campers where they can slide out the rear gate of the truck, and in SUVs, minivans, and other hatchback vehicles where they can be accessed only from the rear.

The term basement is sometimes used interchangeably with garage.

In some small vehicles, there may be a basement available under the floor that is designed to hold fold-down seats.

In large vehicles, the basement refers to undermounted storage compartments.
