Window screens

Nomad Life Wiki

Window screens are essential for most places where insects and bugs are common (so ... most places!) and are great for ventilation when it's not raining. For windows that don't come with a screen, various solutions are available for purchase (Bugsoc, etc.), or you can just buy the screen and create your own.

A temporary DIY solution for the vehicle door windows is to cut a window screen to the approximate shape of the window and use small magnets to hold it to the window frame.

Gutter guard window vents

Gutter guard window vents are an easy solution for additional ventilation in any vehicle that has windows that have a straight (or nearly straight) top edge when opened. You can use PVC/vinyl gutter guards (designed to keep leaves out of house roof rain gutters) as window screens in most openable vehicle windows. Get the kind with the attached mesh "bug screen" designed to keep things like pine needles and other small objects out of gutters. This will keep bugs out of your vehicle while allowing air flow.
