Slam vents (pressure vents)

Nomad Life Wiki
A slam vent inside a stripped cargo van.

Slam vents (also called pressure vents) are special hidden vents located in nearly all modern vehicles. These vents allow air to flow out of the vehicle when you slam your doors shut. If they're removed, covered, or otherwise sealed, you won't be able to close your doors decently due to the higher air pressure created by slamming the doors shut. These pressure release vents are typically located behind wall panels or other materials so they are not visible; as such many people don't know what they are when they discover them during a van conversion.

If you find it very difficult to close doors in your vehicle, it may be that your slam vents are obstructed. If you can't uncover them or remove the obstruction, you may find that you have to partially open one of your vehicle windows before closing your door. Rolling down the window opposite the door that you're closing may give the best results.
