Rain guards (also called rain protectors, rain blades, wind deflectors, or window deflectors) are custom fit window covers designed to allow your window to be opened slightly without letting rain in. This is very beneficial for ventilation in all weather. They also increase stealth, since you can have windows cracked open while parked without people noticing.
Note that rain guards do decrease your visibility while driving. They effectively increase the width of your vehicle's A pillar, making it harder to see things to the sides.
