Peepholes are a great way to add to your safety and security while in your van. It's a low-tech option that lets you see what's going on outside your van without the expense, complexity, and electrical requirements of security cameras. When you install them, you'll need to seal around them to prevent leaks.
These devices are typically designed for the thickness of a non-vehicle door, so they may not work for you if you have thick insulation or wall surfaces. A peephole doesn't have to be installed only in doors (their conventional use case); they can also be installed in the walls near your bed for a quick way to see outside at night.
If stealth is important to you, be sure to get peepholes with inside covers to prevent light from escaping your vehicle through them.
