Private campgrounds are a great place to stay for the night. RV parks are campgrounds focused on those in motorhomes and other RVs..

Note that a small number of private campgrounds do not allow self-built vehicles, skoolies, and other non-commercially-built vehiclesIt doesn't happen often, but there are three main reasons to get turned away:

  1. They want to maintain a certain clientele or atmosphere at their campground, and you're not in it.
  2. They don't trust your old self-build vehicle not to leak fluids onto their cement and/or break down and continue to occupy a site that's already been reserved by the next camper.
  3. It doesn't have black and gray tanks and a sewer connection, and they need you to have that for legal reasons or other reasons.

When making a reservation at these campgrounds, be sure to let them know what kind of vehicle you have.
