Frozen doors sometimes happen during the winter, but fortunately it's nearly impossible to get frozen in.[1] If there's a really bad ice storm and you do, try these tips:
- Try all your doors first; downwind doors may have less ice.
- Open your door handle as usual and push against the door with your shoulder or feet.
- Warm up your vehicle to melt the ice.
- Spray a deicer along the door seams to melt ice. A 2:1 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water should work.
- If you have an emergency exit, try it.
- Clean the door gasket with a silicone lubricant to prevent sticking in the future.[2]
