Cookware suited for nomadic living differs somewhat from that best used for conventional living in a sticks and bricks residence.
Cast iron
Cast iron is time-tested for open-flame cooking. You can cook over a burner or even directly in campfire coals if you want. It's heavy and it takes time to warm up, but it will distribute the heat much more evenly than a thin steel or aluminum pan, and there's no plastic handle to melt. It becomes more non-stick the more you use it, as long as you don't let it rust. You will need to research how to care for it.
Cast iron does not work with induction stoves.
